| It's like happiness, it's a goal we chase, we obtain, and then it slips through our finger tips. The mistakes we made, we learn from them... or we learn how to make them again. I want to look in from the outside. I'd make my own rules. I'd stand on something other than this sphere. It would be more like a box full of second chances. | | |
| "I see an innumerable multitude of men, alike and equal, constantly circling around in pursuit of the petty and banal pleasures with which they glut their souls. Each of them, withdrawn into himself, is almost unaware of the fate of the rest. Mankind, for him, consists in his children and personal friends. As for the rest of his fellow citizens, they are near enough, but he does not notice them. He touches them but feels nothing. He exists in and for himself, and though he still may have a family, one can at least say that he has not got fatherland." -Alexis de Tocqueville (1840)

| So I'm sitting here at caffeine dreams with absolutely nothing to do. It's friday night. I worked for the first time in a couple of weeks and I was looking forward to at least taking my mind off of things with something to do. I got home and no one was around and I couldn't get ahold of anyone, so I came here. I'm still bored, but at least I'm comfortable.
I really am getting sick of people not following through on what they say they're going to do. It sucks even more when they decide that their integrity isn't an important matter. Of course I'm speaking of making up the lack in follow through with some other sort of action. That sad thing about our generation, and I'm included in this, is that so many people don't feel that their integrity is important. Everyone wants to live on their own uncompromised schedule, which is quite simply put, impossible.
Somewhere along the line a lot of the friends I used to hold in such high esteem stoped caring about what people think. I'm not talking about stupid melodramatic social drama, I'm talking about how a person is thought of on a human level, not a social level. Everyone knows at least one person that when their name is mentioned, everyone responds with something along the lines of, "yeah, that kid is awesome" or "Nicest person I know". Most of the time the person isn't nice, they just understand that the world doesn't revolve around them. They have integrity and follow through. They don't think that their schedule is anymore important than anyone else's.
I'm going to continue drinking my red banana smoothie right now and hope that the people this blog most strongly pertains to think about what I wrote, but chances are most of them don't know that they have this problem. Oh well. | | |
| Well, hopefully I will start blogging more. Caleb, you've obviously made a request. I just recieved my new computer yesterday so maybe I'll find the motivation to start doing that. That's my quick little update, but I just woke up so I'm going to go eat and shit. | | |
